Ten grades, each with its own syllabus, its own outcomes and its own sticking points.
The short answer
Learning Loft Institute teaches Grades 1 to 10 online in small live groups. Each grade page sets out the topics covered that year, what a student should be able to do by the end of it, and the points where students most often get stuck.
- Grade 1PrimaryLive online classes for Grade 1, typically age 6. Numbers to 100, phonics and early reading, first science enquiry and Nazra Quran, in groups of four.
- Grade 2PrimaryLive online classes for Grade 2, typically age 7. Place value to 1,000, addition and subtraction fluency, reading for meaning and Nazra Quran.
- Grade 3PrimaryLive online classes for Grade 3, typically age 8. Multiplication and times tables, written methods, science enquiry and Nazra Quran, in groups of four.
- Grade 4PrimaryLive online classes for Grade 4, typically age 9. Long division, fractions, written methods and general science, taught in live groups of four.
- Grade 5PrimaryLive online classes for Grade 5, typically age 10. Decimals, percentages, ratio and general science — the year that decides how middle school starts.
- Grade 6MiddleLive online classes for Grade 6, typically age 11. Algebra begins, science becomes formal, and history and geography join the timetable.
- Grade 7MiddleLive online classes for Grade 7, typically age 12. Rational numbers, algebraic expressions, proportion and financial maths across five subjects.
- Grade 8MiddleLive online classes for Grade 8, typically age 13. Linear equations, Pythagoras and the groundwork for SSC, GCSE or IGCSE in the two years that follow.
- Grade 9SecondaryLive online classes for Grade 9, typically age 14. SSC Part I, GCSE or IGCSE year one — where marks start counting and pace stops being optional.
- Grade 10SecondaryLive online classes for Grade 10, typically age 15. SSC Part II, GCSE or IGCSE final year — timed papers, past series and marked written reasoning.
