What Is a Concordance Table?
Concordance pairs a score on one test with its counterpart on the other. ACT 25 sits alongside SAT 1210 — but the two directions do not perfectly invert.
Concordance table
A concordance table pairs scores on two different tests that measure similar things, showing which score on one corresponds in standing to a given score on the other.

Both directions are published, and they do not cleanly invert. More than one SAT total maps onto a single ACT composite, so a student holding 1220 concords to 25, and 25 concords back to 1210. Ten points disappear on the round trip. That is not an error in the table; it is what necessarily happens when a 1600-point scale is folded onto a 36-point one.
What the table is for
Concordance answers a narrow question: I have a score on this test, what is the comparable standing on that one? It gets used in three situations — a student who sat both tests deciding which result to send, an admissions office comparing two applicants who took different tests, and a family reading a university's published score range when their child took the other test.
The current official tables were released in 2018 and, as ACT states, are not updated annually. They are a joint product of ACT and the College Board rather than something a coaching centre worked out, and a conversion chart from any other source is somebody's approximation of them.
Concordance is not equivalence
ACT is blunt about the limit: a concorded score is not a perfect prediction of how a student would perform on the other test, and the tables do not equate scores. The two exams measure similar but not identical things, and a student's relative strengths can genuinely suit one of them better than the other.
Two practical rules follow. You cannot report a concorded score to a university — you send the score you actually earned, on the test you actually sat. And superscoring does not cross the boundary: a university that combines your best section scores does so within one test, not by welding an SAT Maths score onto an ACT English one.
Using it to decide which score to send
The honest way to use concordance is at the practice stage. Sit one timed full-length practice of each test, concord both results, and see whether one is meaningfully ahead. If they land on the same line of the table, the choice is not about scoring — it comes down to cost, test dates near you, and which one you found less unpleasant to sit.
Once real scores exist, concord them, send the stronger, and stop. And if a university publishes its own conversion or states a preference, that instruction beats the national table every time; the concordance describes tests, not admissions policies.

Is an SAT 1210 the same as an ACT 25?
Comparable, not the same. The concordance places them at similar standing, which is enough for an admissions office deciding how to read two applicants. It is not a claim that the student would have scored 25 had they sat the ACT that morning, and ACT says so explicitly in its own guidance.
Which test should I take, the SAT or the ACT?
Take one timed practice test of each under real conditions, then concord the two results. If one is clearly ahead, that is your test. If they concord to roughly the same place, pick on practical grounds — availability of test centres in Pakistan, the dates that fit your school year, and which format you found easier to pace.
Can I send a concorded score to a university?
No. You report the score you earned on the test you sat, through the test maker's own reporting. The concordance is a reading aid used by you and by admissions offices; it does not create a score you own. Nothing you send should contain a number you converted yourself.
Are the concordance tables updated every year?
No. ACT states that the most recent tables were released in 2018 and are not updated annually. Chart-of-the-year posts and coaching-centre conversion tools that look newer are almost always the same 2018 data reformatted, and anything that disagrees with it is not official.
